Writing to scale

These things will change your 2025 bottom line

A client called me to say he had nightmares about me pushing him to practice the company sales pitch.
That same week, they broke a record sales streak, putting them on track for their best month ever.

I want more clients to have nightmares. 😊

In today’s Storyletter:
• Scale starts here and it’s easier than you think
• First show, exciting new start

Key learning

The most important thing your business is missing can be changed in just a few hours. It only depends on you and your team, requires no budget, and can be measured easily.

The way you write.
Marc Lou, a great inspiration and experienced Indie Hacker, posted last week about his updated website. He included new funnels to find bottlenecks in his business.

Here’s the interesting part. Over 50% of people who visited his website (he has over 200K followers on Twitter and his websites generate over 1 million dollars a year in revenue) didn’t even scroll.

Look at your website for context. The first sentence at the top, the hero section as it’s called, is your most important piece of real estate. When was the last time you made changes to that sentence?

The first thing you can do is make sure the hero section has a strong one-liner. One that makes people scroll down. Sounds simple, right?
It’s actually one of the hardest discussions I have with my clients. What do we really do? If you need more help, you can watch this short and longer interview where I explain more about it.

The sales pitch.
The second thing your business must address is your pitch. If it isn’t written, you are missing out on so much business.

In the last couple of months, I’ve worked with companies selling to governments, companies with hundreds of employees, and even one managing over 500 million dollars. All of them made the same mistake. Their sales teams improvised all the time.

We started working with a written pitch. And you know how I know this works?
Because I can pitch better than them without knowing anything about their business. I know exactly what to say and, more importantly, how I want the audience to feel.

The why.
The last thing you should consider is adding the “why” to your marketing efforts.

I had an amazing meeting with a client whose team is working hard to get traction and numbers. From email open rates to video creation, they are busy. But the one thing they couldn’t see was sales.

Why are you doing certain things when it comes to marketing?
Create a plan to connect the dots.
Is it a hard sell? Then go all in.
If it’s value creation, what happens? Do people learn and follow? Do they talk about you? Do they buy something?

Don’t let the numbers fool you.
Focus on the impact.
Get to work.

These three actions can completely change your business by the end of 2025.
Will you do it?

When you don’t market your brand, you’re being selfish. You’re denying people the solutions they need.

My new podcast wall

The first pilot for my new show just happened, and I’m stoked.
It’s been a long time since I recorded something that felt like a show, something with real long-term potential.

As my office is starting to feel comfortable again, new place, new feeling, I’m happy to record more.

I want to help as many people as possible, I want to create more content, and I love radio in its most basic classical form. So combining these (yes, it will have video), I’ve decided to name the show The Business Catcher Podcast.

Another test will happen in early September, with a few episodes planned for October. There’s already a special guest lineup for November, and I’m thrilled to share the journey with you all.

SEO or GEO
There are so many names for the AI search era; it’s crazy. I started working with Jason Barnard on fixing my online presence and thought I’d share a few things:

  • I am blown away by how many things I told the world about myself that are no longer relevant.

  • It’s so important to define who we are in a way the algorithms understand. We need boxes, descriptions, and signals the algorithms like and can process.

I’m amazed by the opportunities we all have now as search is changing. I’m getting ready for that. I want to succeed.

A personal note
Seeing so many people succeed on social media, some amazing, some faking it until they make it, and a few who faked it until they did. I want to remind you how important it is to find your niche, work hard, and keep improving. Forget the external noise. Focus on the value you bring.
