I have to reboot the series

And admit something

In partnership with

Running between the rice fields in Hoi An, Vietnam, I had a revelation. After a month of working on everything except my next book, it hit me—I know what’s missing.

It’s time to hide and ride. With three weeks before my visit to Israel, I've checked into a beautiful hotel overlooking the rice fields, and my plan is to write. If I'm slow to reply, know that I'm working on something big.

There are many changes—personal and business, content and lifestyle. Enjoy this last Storyletter; it’s a personal journey. Next week will be a new version and i’m really excited about what’s to come (read more in the next few sections).

I’m growing, and I thank you for being here and for all the support I’ve received. It means the world.

In today's storyletter:

THOUGHTS

Losing track of everything

I must admit something. After having some great conversations this past week with young founders, entrepreneurs who have built huge businesses, and even investors raising for their next fund, I felt torn. I can help them all, but what is the right path? Who can I help the most, and who would I like to work with? Between helping, changing the world, and making money, the range of possibilities is too broad.

I wanted to share my journey but couldn’t really find the balance between writing and bringing you value. I have hundreds of readers each week, but I'm not sure what they expect to get. I’m closing deals from my content, especially from LinkedIn, but is that the right way to move forward?

Struggling to write, I did what I do best—selling things. But this time, going back to selling my consulting time was an escape. It was a great way to make money and forget about the book for a while. And time—it has this tendency to run away, to move so fast.

I lost track of my purpose, of the reason I left home in the first place—to build something, to make an impact. So, here goes: part of sharing and building in public means I need to be honest, face the truth, and make changes.

My ICP (Ideal Customer Profile) will focus on brands looking to scale using storytelling techniques. This is very high-level, and I hope to share more in the coming weeks as I dive into the details.

The services I will offer in the next few months are focused on helping you pitch to raise money or close more leads. I’ll also offer services in creating a lasting brand character and marketing consulting. The masterminds will be for a closed group and will have an application process.

My content is aimed at serving young companies looking to improve their brand, sales, marketing, messaging, pitching, and customer journey. While it might be relevant to many others, I believe there are so many founders who need practical help—and just as my book was aimed at them, they will continue to be my focus.

This means my content online, from LinkedIn to this newsletter, will become more for them and less about me. While I am thankful for the hundreds of people following along, I think we need to help these young companies build the amazing solutions the world needs.

I will keep the Building in Public section with my personal opener, but the main piece each week will be dedicated to teaching something in the categories I mentioned above.

I’d love to talk to you, hear your thoughts, and share ideas.

Thank you for being part of this project. Storyletter is about to change a little bit, but become much more.

I’m going to keep doing this one thing

Building a habit is the hardest thing—or maintaining it is, not sure what they say—but one thing I know: building my business this year will come down to these few things: getting creative, doing less, and habit building.

After a rough patch over the last two weeks—losing my friend, flying to India, and losing about four days in travel—I’ve come back to Vietnam and moved from Da Nang to Hoi An, hoping to find some peace and focus to create more.

This will be my 19th storyletter, but also the last one in this format, as I’ve mentioned before. This week will also mark two months of getting back to YouTube. I’m enjoying most of it, but here are the things I’m going to focus on for the next two months:

  • I have written a list of what I think could be interesting ideas for the next six educational videos.

  • I need to improve my schedule—the plan is to have the videos ready one day before the upload time. So far, I’ve been struggling and uploading last-minute videos.

  • I want to improve the editing of at least two videos a month by filming a week before and sending them to a video editor. My 4K videos and audio have improved.

  • Fixing the thumbnails, descriptions, and titles is highly recommended for anyone with older videos—it’s been interesting to see what works.

On another note, we’ve been testing some ads for YouTube. I’m not very happy with the results, so I aim to focus on a new lead magnet and see if that gets us the right ICP to sign up for the newsletter. Getting people to purchase the book is still the hardest thing, as I can’t promote that page anywhere.

A Quick Note About Work

🚀 Mastermind Launch – Get ready, because this is going to blow your mind. The mastermind for entrepreneurs will launch at the end of March, and I’m also working on a new mastermind for C-Level executives at the request of some entrepreneurs who want their top-level managers to be more creative and reimagine their marketing and sales processes.

📅 Office Hours – Thank you to the one person who really reached out—this is what it’s all about: that one true fan. I’ll be shooting a new video this week about sales. Ask me anything; I’d love your help. It will make my day.

Final Thoughts

Feeling very grateful for this community and this journey. Let’s keep learning, building, and improving together. 💡
